FAQ

Who, what, where, when, how, about shipping my vehicle?

It is most cost-effective to ship two vehicles in one 40-foot container (prices vary from port to port; it’s about $2,000-$2,500 per car each way on average, including insurance), but single-vehicle shipping is an option. Our staff can make all the arrangements to get a vehicle from your door to the seaport of your choice, as we have established protocols with shipping lines and Customs here and in Thailand. The task is much less daunting than one would think, but plan on a 4 to 6 week ocean voyage each way.

What duties will need to be paid on the vehicle’s re-entry?

U.S. Customs charges a 2.5% duty on the invoice price of repairs/alterations on vehicles restored to original condition returning to the U.S. Parts used in restorations, shipping, ground transport, and brokerage fees are not charged a duty.

Where do the restoration parts come from?

The most economical way is for the owner to supply as many parts as needed for restoration, and for them to be shipped with the vehicle in the same container. CrossRoads’ staff can assist in parts searches/purchases, billable to the customer at a cost-plus rate.

How can I monitor the progress of my project?

The Web and digital media make it easy to communicate back & forth on a schedule that you determine; weekly, monthly, the choice is yours. Inspection visits to Thailand are also encouraged, and easily arranged.
